The history of the firm began with Gene Brown, who started his practice of law in Grants Pass shortly after World War II. During the war, Gene served with the 101st Airborne Division and was involved in all of its major engagements.
Gene was a well known attorney in southern Oregon for many years, and also served as a Senator in the Oregon State legislature for his district in the 1960s.
Daniel F. Hughes joined the firm in 1970. In 1980, the firm purchased
and moved into their present location, the George S. Calhoun house,
which is located at the corner of Fifth and “ 'A'” Street
in Grants Pass.
The Calhoun house was constructed in approximately 1909 and is listed on the National Register of Historical Places for Josephine County, Oregon.
Frank C. Rote, III, moved to southern Oregon from Ohio in 1989 when he joined the firm.
Jason S. Brouhard moved to Southern Oregon from Salem, Oregon in 1998 when he joined the firm.
